Blind persons timer / Prototype

Designed as a portable agenda and time piece for blind people. This was a pre pocket mobile phone (1988) era research study in tactile interaction.

The clock spoke the time and each of the of the radial buttons operate voice activated functions. Like memos shopping list, appointment, weather, bookings and phone numbers all touch-voice interfaced.  It was design to be tactile communicative. Designed from the point of view of a blind person it was designed to orientate itself correctly in the hand of the user. With the 12 pointing up as was the case in those days the user could open the watch face and “feel the time” by the relative positions of the clock arms.
